Postcoded Analysis

We are able to provide postcoded analysis of Deprivation Indices 2004, census data, monthly unemployment rates and a range of other data for local authority areas and Parliamentary Constituencies.

Index of Deprivation

We have matched Deprivation indices to 1.3 million English postcodes and can use our postcode database to provide deprivation analyses of school, college or training organisation catchment areas or student intake.  Below is a sample table layout showing the proportion of students from the most deprived 5% of English neighbourhoods (Lower Tier Super Output Areas)*; the most deprived 10% of neighbourhoods; the most deprived 15% of neighbourhoods etc.  This kind of knowledge is particularly useful to educators, trainers and OFSTED inspectors for monitoring social and educational inclusion and widening participation.

Analysis is at Lower Tier Super Output area level - roughly one quarter of the size of an electoral ward - and our service combines a cost effective small area solution with fast turnaround.

*'Neighbourhoods' in this context are Lower Tier Super Output Areas.  These comprise approximately 1,500 people and are roughly a quarter of the size of Local Government Electoral Wards and considerably smaller then postcode sectors.  Click here to see how SOAs compare with postcode sectors.
