Taylor Associates Labour Market Information service works on the assumption that there are many users and potential users of labour market information who want basic data in an easily digestible form at regular intervals at a reasonable cost.  With this in mind we've designed a standard package of tables that can be used either as they are for briefing purposes, or easily incorporated into reports and other documents.

The 2001 census coupled with new demographic projections and the publication of monthly unemployment figures on a 2003 ward basis makes it possible to produce ward level unemployment rate estimates on a claimant and internationally comparable ILO basis with far greater reliability than has previously been possible.  Taylor Associates make these rate estimates together with employment projections from the Taylor Associates' UK (TAUK) employment projection model available as part of our Basic Labour Market Data Service.  The service takes the form of a 12 month subscription to one or all of the following supplied in both paper and Excel spreadsheet formats on CD:

Part 1 - monthly unemployment tables showing unemployment numbers and rate estimates* on a claimant and internationally comparable ILO basis plus estimates of numbers and rates for those 'seeking or wanting work'.

Unemployment rates are supplied at ward, district, county, Government Office/RDA region and country levels.  In addition a district level ethnic minority unemployment rate estimate and an estimate of the unemployment rate for people with disabilities are provided.

*note that Taylor Associates' unemployment rates are based on resident workforce and not on the resident population as used in National Statistics small area unemployment rates.  Ward boundaries are based on 2003 wards.  Numbers of claimant unemployed are published by National Statistics and NOMIS, numbers of ILO unemployment and numbers 'seeking and wanting work' are estimated by Taylor Associates.

Part 2 - monthly tables covering Jobcentre Plus vacancies (latest month and 3 month average) and 'Reasons for leaving unemployment' during the previous three months can be added to the above if required.

Part 3 - quarterly macroeconomic forecasts for the UK to 2011 showing GDP growth; unemployment projections, domestic demand growth, retail price inflation and interest rate projections from ten city and non-city forecasters with averages; population projections by district to 2015 by sex and broad age band updated every one to two years; quarterly employment change by broad occupation and industry, compares Labour Force Survey residence based data for two years for GB plus your region or met. county where applicable; monthly Jobcentre Plus vacancies ranked by top 40 occupations (SOC2000 four digit level).
